Ο Κώστας Αλεξίου γεννήθηκε στο νησί της Σκύρου
Το 1941 γράφτηκε στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών, στην Αθήνα, όπου σπούδασε ζωγραφική κάτω από τον Κωνσταντίνο Παρθένη και Ουμπέρτο Αργυρό.
Τα έργα του έχουν μια ποιητική αίσθηση που εκφράζεται μέσα από μια επιλεκτική παλέτα χρωμάτων, την απλότητα και τον ρεαλισμό. Εργάστηκε στο καλλιτεχνικό τμήμα του Κεραμεικού και το Εθνικό Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο στην Ελλάδα. Για το λόγο αυτό μια σειρά από έργα του απεικονίζουν τους αρχαιολογικούς χώρους στην Αθήνα.
Έργα του υπάρχουν στις συλλογές των: Δήμου Αθηναίων, του Δήμου Πειραιώς, της Εθνικής Τράπεζας Ελλάδος και σε πολλές δημόσιες και ιδιωτικές συλλογές στην Ελλάδα, όσο και διεθνώς.
Costas Alexiou was born on the island of Skyros.
In 1941 he enrolled at The School of Fine Arts, Athens, where he studied painting under Constantinos Parthenis and Umberto Argyros.
Alexiou’s work has a poetic feeling that is expressed through a selective color palette, simplicity and realism. He worked at the artistic department of Kerameikos and The National Archaeological Museum of Greece. For this reason a number of his works depict archaeological sites in Athens, like the current lot.
Propylaea, Parthenon, Erechtheion is a work painted in the 1950’s
His work can be found in the collections of: The Municipality of Athens, The Municipality of Piraeus, The National Bank of Greece and in many public and private collections in Greece, and internationally.
